It's the first day of school, kids, and I couldn't be more excited. This day every year is a mix of all my first days of school and all of them were wondrous because I led a charmed life as far as school went. (Although I'd not want to do it all over again.) Today is all goldy light and good-smelling leaves, dance pants and a calculus textbook, dorm rooms and wiglace, track shorts and marching band practice.
Who wants to go cruising on Saturday night? I'll meet you in the Burger King parking lot.
