Today is the first day that I don't want to do the tedious administrivial work I have in front of me. It only took me three weeks and two days to get bored. And only fifteen weeks and three more days to go!
I'm not complaining, really. I get to come in whenever I want, my fake name is fun (Morning Boss laugh everytime she hears it), and I am completely candid without fear of repercussion regarding, say, how much I use the phone or check other email or what I'll do in what order and the efficiency of existing systems. Y'know, the kind of thing that either gets you fired or results in a cigar-smokin' joe saying "You've got moxie, kid."
The actual problem is that I'm getting bored after so many weeks without teaching. I was downstairs today with all the field trip kids and I just wanted to talk to them. And make them do stuff. Educational stuff. Thankfully, classes start next week. I have the daughter of a Mariner in one class and in another we'll be creating the story of The Lost Sock Monkey.
Poor little lost sock monkey.

I like "administrivial" (your coinage?) and, of course, have always loved "moxie," nearly as much as I love "tomato" from the same era. Preferably used in the same sentence.

My favorite use of the word tomato is in Shack Out on 101. Run out and watch it now!
Posted by: Ida at September 18, 2003 08:00 AM "Mom, where do all the socks disappear to?"
"Well dear, the lost-sock monkey takes them and uses them to weave hammocks in the treetops of the lost-sock forest."
I really love it that you call her "morning boss" even though she's not reeeeeally your boss and plus you come in wherever you want. It just makes me smile.
You've got moxie, kid.

p.s. I am now the proud owner of a punk-rock anarchist sock monkey. It needs a name. Suggestions?
