Light

Four more days of teaching!

I prevented myself from adding more than one (read also: 17) exclamation points to that sentence. While I do find my job very artistically satisfying and consistently challenging, by the end of the year I have hit extreme! burnout. Proof? On Thursday night, I missed a bus while waiting at the bus stop because I forgot that I was waiting for a bus.

Right now I'm sitting in the parking lot of A Very C.S. Lewis Catholic School. There were kids in uniforms bouncing balls against the wall (which sounds like Camazotz but wasn't because they got no rhythm) but now they're quietly inside. Soon, I shall be loudly inside.

I'm actually excited for these last few days: they may lead to documentation of some great teaching stories that happened this year; they definintely lead to a 10-day trip to New York followed shortly thereafter by a six day trip to California.

Hello, luck.

Congrats on surviving another year, and for presumably cramming a little bit of the old culture into those rapidly expanding craniums. Let's just hope some of it survives the next several years of chemical obliteration until they reach adulthood.

And Yay for NYC!

I never thought about the benefits of Camazotz -- maybe I could learn to dance there. Of course it'd probably be some nightmare place where everyone does the robot.
