We bought a couch yesterday. The saleswoman was impressed with our color choices.
I'm just glad that it will be free of cat hair.
(At least, I will be 8-10 weeks from now.)
((It was reallyreally fun sorting through all of the fabric swatches. Dorks, all!))

Yep, twelve more weeks of what it's doing outside right now.
*Sigh!*
Posted by: COMTE at February 2, 2006 04:58 PMSwatches?!?! Like a NEW couch? Do they even make those?
Uh...so you totally didn't say what color you picked.
Posted by: JtotheP at February 3, 2006 12:49 AMTotally new due to the gift of a start-up couch fund from Mama Yellow Dog (13 mos ago).
Delicious item will chocolate brown (in a fine-wale herringbone) with rusty-bronze brocaded accent pillows (w/ a very tiny floral pattern).
Swatches: when I was little we used to collect paint samples and discarded wallpaper books. Oh, those days may yet return!
Posted by: ida at February 3, 2006 10:00 AMooh boy, am i ever politely envious of your fabric swatching adventure. congratulations on your new impending domestic comfort!
Posted by: raej at February 3, 2006 03:23 PMOoooh my. I remember being absolutely fascinated by wallpaper books. My sister and I got to go and pick wallpaper for our rooms once and I don't remember picking anything (I think my room ended up being painted) but I do remember being completely absorbed by the wallpaper books. The almost fabric feel and the smell of the home improvement store.
Wow that's an intense memory.

I've heard that the secret handshake of Adult Society is conferred when you receive your first swatch-born couch. Of course you won't actually be able to reveal it to outsiders, but we can work out a double-wink signal to let the non-initiated know that you've jumped the loveseat.
