We just sent the outline of our wedding ceremony to our officiant.
I think my heart will be beating very, very quickly for at least sixteen more days. After that, the heat of New Mexico should calm it down. (And tacos. Oh, how I love tacos.)
PS Anybody know of some good shoe stores that I wouldn't have thought of? Because I'm just having a dickens of a time in finding appropriate shoes. (Yes, a dickens. Because I'm looking for these shoes while working for my great aunt's textiles factory and may be thrown into debtor's prison.)
Posted by Ida at June 1, 2006 01:43 PMHere are my favorites: Woolly Mammoth, The Annex, both in the U. District, Mirage in Wallingford, Maggie's - downtown, Frankie's in Fremont, Edie's on Pine, Nordstrom's and zappos.com (they've got almost everything - good prices, shop by size, brand, style and/or color, free shipping and free return shipping if the shoe doesn't fit).
Posted by: Emmy at June 2, 2006 09:31 AMNot to worry: in the very last chapter some long-lost relative by the name of Cuddlewell or Impishgrin will return from the land of the Maharajah with a bag full of gold crowns to rescue you from impending penury.
And then you'll buy a Christmas goose!
Posted by: COMTE at June 2, 2006 10:44 AMEmmy: thanks for the tips!
Comte: if I wear Christmas geese on my feet does that mean I won't get knocked up on my wedding night?
Posted by: ida at June 2, 2006 11:00 AMShoe success! Thank you, Sole Food (though mostly due to stock and not the usefulness of the employees).
They're pretty shiny...which means I might have to shift from Dickens to Andersen.
Posted by: ida at June 3, 2006 08:19 PMWEIRD! I was totally going to recommend Sole Food. I actually called SGNP one day and said sheppishly "I don't suppose we have an extra hundred dollars laying around that I could buy some shoes with?" They were orange sandals with a tan and orange flower print on one side and a big tan flower on top with a green thingie for between the toes. He said, "No." And then I was sad so I had to play with the baby and buy her some pink Robeez. So the cuter of us two got shoes that day for sure.
Posted by: JtotheP at June 8, 2006 02:03 PMWhere is this sole food?
Posted by: Emmy at June 9, 2006 12:21 PMThe one I know is in University Village, the part where they are doing construction on the play yard. It's across the way sort of from Fireworks.
Posted by: JtotheP at June 9, 2006 04:48 PMYep, that's the place. I've purchased shoes there twice (the other pair are sneakers) and have found them to have a decent selection but that there employees are not that, ahem, helpful.
