Part Two of a Three Part Story

It's been awhile: though sucked moderately dry by the inhabited vacuum that is summer teaching all is well...well, minus the part where Yellow Dog's equipment was stolen out of our car by a bunch of fudgeheads (because surely it took more than one fudgehead). Because that blows, here's a little story:

The time: just before 10am on a Saturday morning in March 2005. The place: a carpeted, skylighted sudio in the telemarketing room of a certain establishment for youth. The challenge: Ida, the Bouncing Amazon, and their crew of ten must crawl carefully across the rushing river to find an entrance into the mysterious orb.

Ida: I think I can see a way in, but we'd have to crawl through this water and around to the other side.

YoT: Let's go!

Ida: I don't know...I just don't know if we're strong enough.

YoT: Yes we are! We are! Look at our muscles!

BA: They're pretty strong, Ida, maybe we should risk it.

Ida: I dunno...it looks scary...

YoT: Let's go! Let's go! Let's gooooooooooooooo!

Ida: Well...maybe if we all crawl on our bellies. And maybe if we make a chain by, uh, no, wait, we don't have any rope.

BA: Oh, man, and just when I thought we could find a way in!

YoT: We could hold on to each other's ankles!

Ida: Hmmm. That just might work. I'm willing to be brave and lead the way. Everyone, hold on!

Ida lies down on her belly. Children and the Bouncing Amazon make a hand-to-ankle-chain that crosses the length of the room. They begin to crawl slowly across the floor...uh, river.

Ida: Okay, everybody, we're going to have to stay strong. The waters may tear us apart.

They continue crawling. The water is rough. The water is cold. The water is raging. The water is making rugburns on Ida's elbows.

Ida: You guys, the orb is close by, but I'm getting really scared. I don't think we can make it...I just, I, I, I, it's too hard!

YoT O: Don't be afraid! Jesus is with you!

It is important to know here that little O has recently arrived from Russia...she knows few English words and attends a Christian preschool. She is obsessed with Jonah and the Whale. Her accent rules. And she is yelling really loudly because she is all the way at the end of a chain of 12 people...and the river is RAGING.

YoT O: Don't be afraid! Jesus is with you!

Ida: ...Uh...Thanks!...

FIN

So, my Yellow Dog, there's a little tale for you. I know it's one you already know...and I just realized it could be misinterpreted into a declaration of the Power of Faith...but really, I guess it's more of some things suck all the time and some things suck less of the time, but you are my favorite all of the time.

And now everyone knows.

I don't care who knows, my sweetest. Thanks for the story, I love that one.
And if the Jesus that protects little YoT:O is with me, I have no probelm with that. He sounds like a stand-up dude.
