Surely I can win

Surely I can win your heart

I want a tower. I've wanted a tower since I was in second grade. Strangely enough, my want for a tower directly coincides with the first time I recognized something in literature as a descriptive similie. I was reading a book about a pig who loved to read. Her sisters would tease her as they went to play dress up and dolls, and she would escape into the tower of their house, which had books going all the way up the spiral staircase. When she reached the glass-domed top, she curled up with her book and let the sun "cast over her like melted butter".

I remember thinking about how the sun was like melted butter, and how insanely cool it would be to have a tower with books all the way up. I asked my dad if we could make an addition to the house, to which he replied, "Start building."

And I did. With tree bark. When you split wood, you can usually hit it in such a way that the bark will shed itself in 2 halves off of the block. I set to work collecting these halves and standing them on end in a circle around the corner of the house. Mom put a stop to it when I took all of my books and records outside and told her I was planning on keeping them there.

Now that no one can tell me what to do, there is a discouraging lack of tree bark rounds. Tell me you love me. Build me a tower.
