she wants to talk to me.

I'm intolerable today. I can barely tolerate myself. So until further notice:

Once, when I was 5, my best friend Sarah and I were sitting on the couch in the livingroom watching afternoon cartoons. My mom was making macaroni and cheese at the stove, which was visible from our spot on the couch. She was calmly stirring the noodles when her pants suddenly fell down.

I only see or talk to Sarah once a year, sometimes less. This story comes up every time, and every time, we laugh until we can't breathe.

I have a story that's exactly *that* funny, but it involves the naughty bits of somebody my friends know, so I can't ever tell it. I still laugh until I can't breathe every time I mention it to the person whose naughty bits were involved.

(sorry you're intolerable. me too. if you ever want to be intolerable in the same room with someone else who cannot be tolerated, gimme a call.)

Let's have my intolerable secretary call your intolerable secretary and make an apointment for you with my intolerable therapist who will tell you that I'm intolerable too.

Gladys the intolerable secretary and Ingrid the intolerable secretary will be on the phone all intolerable day.

(Molls, if you really mean it, we can totally sit in a room and not be tolerated or tolerant while watching home decorating shows, as I have totally extravagant cable television now.)

It must be something in the air -- I woke up feeling so intollerable, I wanted to call in and take an Intollerable Day from work. I didn't and now I AM a sort of an "intollerable secretary". Let me know if anybody out there needs an intollerable call -- I'm all over it.

And I just have to ask -- was there by any chance a stalk of celery in the vicinity when your mom's pants fell down? It just sort of reminded me of this:

Intollerably yours,

I know the moon wasn't full, but for some reason it was truely in the air....even on the west coast.
