Ow! Dammit!

You guys, I have to tell you about something that's happening right now, so I'm going to do the uncommon and blog from home.

I think the side of my mouth is swelling.

I mean -really- it probably cant be . . . but when the last Vicodin wore off and my Left Golden Molar started howling about the grinding bite adjustment it received yesterday, my jaw started aching like a sprained ankle aches. I feel like my cheek is kind of fat. But my other cheek is no long distance runner. Do you think it just feels swollen because it's more sensitive?

It's been freaking me out for a while now, kids. I took another painkiller when I was sure the first one was on it's last legs, but I just touched my jaw to see if I had a lump around the gum or something, and the localized pain is now Bursting its way through my blocked little pain receptors.

Dear The Tooth Fairy,

Knock it off in there!

Love,

Sonya

if it stops hurting soon, i'd give a day to see if the swelling goes down. if not, call the dentist. it's probably infected or just healing. either way, you'll be fine. james's cheek was swelling for a week, i heard, 'cause he hadn't been to the dentist in years and eats skittles in bed.

Just keep blogging until the pain goes away.

My experience with dental issues is mercifully limited, but Tim seems to be giving you quite sensible advice; if it persists for more than a day or two or seems to be getting worse instead of better, call your dentist and get back in that chair, pronto!

I waited four days after having my wisdom teeth pulled before asking if the swelling shouldn't have at least gone down a little by that time. When they did a second set of x-rays they discovered a third root on one of my molars that had been hidden on the original pics, so I ended up spending an additional two hours in the chair getting it yanked out.

The only upside was that I got my Percoset script refilled! Woo-hoo!

So, unless you're getting hooked on the candy and don't want your housekeeper or roommate doing late-night deals in shopping mall parking lots, my advice would be: don't delay, call today!

Teeth suck. I've been contemplating putting dentures in. I think it would save a lot of pain, worries and money. I think by now I could buy like an 1997 car if I put together all the money that's been poured into my choppers. But I am not so sure that 25 it would be very cool.

I once had a BAD tooth infection on the Thanksgiving day. They didn't want to take me in because they were overbooked. So in my humble persistance, I went to the office, stood by the receptionists desk with all the people in the office and sobbed until I softened the poor womans heart. Worked like magic.

Iboprophene. Lots of it, it takes the swelling off. It's the swelling that hurts.
