I'm calling it right now. New Orleans = New Atlantis. You can't pump out the freaking sea.
The world is changing, and I'm losing sleep over big issues I can't change. It's kind of exciting, really. The gas is going to run out and we're vulnerable as a country because we're at war and dealing with natural disaster at home. I think Cake put it best when he said "I just can't wait to see it all go down"
In other news: Everyone, I mean EVERYONE is getting hitched and makin babies right now. I don't think this water is safe to drink.
Of course you can pump out the freaking sea! It isn't called the Netherlands for nothing.
Posted by: Paul at September 1, 2005 07:48 PMMaybe New Orleans, or parts of it that are still underwater, can end up sort of like Venice, with everyone going everywhere in boats.
Posted by: B² at September 2, 2005 02:28 AMEveryone is getting pregnant, aren't they. It tends to happen right after war ends, but only morrons can believe Am has won the war. The future is looking dark, except for all those glowing tv sets showing Tempation Island 13.
Posted by: T1M at September 2, 2005 03:32 AMPeople breed more in times of crisis. One wishes people would be more inclined to make babies when times are good and resources are plentiful, but apparently fear of imminent death makes people screw like there's no tomorrow. Nothing like a deadline to prompt people to action!
Not saying that accounts for all of our friends' couplings -- I suspect it has more to do with the age of our friends -- but still.
Posted by: flamingbanjo at September 2, 2005 10:53 AMBecause I'm something of a social butterfly, recently my mailbox has been inundated with wedding/baby announcements, sometimes both at the same time!
I don't know what they're drinkin' out there, but there's a heated discussion going on somewhere in my frontal lobes about the relative merits of drinkiing versus not drinking whatever it is, although I suspect my amygdala is to blame for starting the whole ruckus.
Posted by: KING COMTE I at September 2, 2005 02:24 PMMaybe after they rebuild Dixie they can call the place New New Orleans.
