I'm having a totally Rick Springfield Thanksgiving, aparently. He has a blog. I love that I can pull out a record that was made the same year I was born, get totally gushy about it, and jump on the internet to read something he wrote yesterday. Swoon!
I spent last night making a pumpkin cheesecake, southern cornbread, and a hundred million parker house rolls. The oven was on from 3 to 10.
Today I'm making cornbread pepper stuffing, roasted asparagus and brussell sprouts, pertaters, and a squash something.
I love The Joy of Cooking. I pishawed Patrickt when he told me it would change my life, but -once again- he called it. A Rick Springfeild Joy of Cooking Thanksgiveranza!
This thanksgiving, I'm most thankful for:
Forgiveness.
Vitality.
The unwavering support of my family.
"The Joy Of Cooking" - You can never go wrong with a classic.
Rick Springfield can be a very confusing generational signpost, due to his continual resurgence on the cultural radar screen every 8 - 10 years or so, beginning in the early '70's when he was a "one hit wonder" and an animated cartoon character.
Posted by: COMTE at November 25, 2005 10:33 AMHappy Thanksgiving Sonya! A little belated but I hope that you enjoyed a fantastic one :-)
Posted by: Ian at November 26, 2005 03:01 AMI actually saw Rick Springfield in concert in 82? 83? Quarterflash opened ("I'm gonna harden my hearrrrrrt").
Posted by: dayment at November 27, 2005 07:08 PMRick is about to reprise his role on General Hospital as Dr. Noah Drake. My sister was soooo into him. She saw a whole bunch of concerts, got autographs and kisses. I just remember him from a late eighties tv movie called Nick Knight where he played a detective investigating vampire related murders, searching for a cure for his own vampirism. It was remade with mostly new actors, no Rick, in a short run series called Forever Knight. The pilot was good, but hey, I was a kid. Besides that, there is Jesse's Girl, and I just saw him for like two seconds on The Colbert Report via Comedy Central. Apparently November was Rick Springfield month and nobody told us!
