Take me, shake me,

Take me, shake me, anyway you want me

Earthquake! Whoo hoo! I was on the bottom floor of a 17 story building, when the low belly rumble of the the earth sounded its mighty call. It was my first earthquake, and excitement abounded. The funniest part was after it was over. I went outside and EVERYONE was on a cell phone. Everyone. It was amazing.

I went home for lunch, and my chimney had fallen in, and a section of the outer brick on my building has fallen off. I hope they dont shut us out for it being unsound. My mom wants me to move. (sidenote: Everyone, call your mom's. They like you.) I also called Alisha. She said she had to put some pants on in case she had to run outside, or be dug out of the rubble of her old house. There were also reports of a nervous fish named John.

Whew! More reports later. Signing off.

Sicko Heres the thing.

Sicko

Heres the thing. Everybody I know is sick, and it doesnt really seem like anyone is getting better. There should be a plague declared, and everyone who's got it should be able to hang out together at home, feeling miserable and secretly wishing their moms were around.

It isnt a secret for me anymore. Im tired of being sick, and I wish my mom was around.

Ive been going to rhsl's

Ive been going to rhsl's for Pearl at Annex since I arrived home, but since things are in the early stages, I dont have a lot to do yet. We finished really early last night, so I had to figure out something to do to keep me busy until late. I need to get on a different sleep pattern.
So I ended up at the Hi*Score playing Ms. Pac Man and Gilligans Island Pinball. I remembered when I first moved here, wondering how everyone was so damned beautiful. Everyone looked just a little different from those around them, everyone was an eye catcher. As time passed, I forgot about my original impression, and people got all ugly again.

However, when I was in the rural heartland of the northwest, I noticed that there didnt seem to be anyone between the ages of 18 and 30 who wasnt pregnant or missing fingers, or -worst of all- a sort of ambiguous nondescript mediocrity lacking all passion for life. I know how vain that sounds, but I just dont encounter that feeling of inescapable mediocrity here very often. You'd think it would be the other way around, just based on numbers. Maybe it is, and I have a skewed perception. I dont really care, but as I was standing over those flashing blue ghosts and that bow-stamped yellow head, I was happy to hear the hipster behind me say "yeah, the band is doing well, and my girlfriends film will be done by april, we think". So thanks to all of you for living spectacular lives, whether you think you are or not.

home, home on the

home, home on the range

Im back from the mime tour, at work, and wishing I was back from the mime tour, in bed.

I'm really happy to be home. The mimes were fun, and I learned how to do an extrordinary number of things. However, the coffee and the food were really gross in every town, and the severe elevation and humidity changes nearly killed me. Mountain Home, Idaho is a hell hole.
Otherwise, we spent a lot of time in the van laughing at ourselves, singing Bob Dylan tunes, and trying to immitate sylvester the cat. Bruce had a voicebox from an Arthur toy, so in restaurants and in stores and occasionally on stage, we could hear statements like "things were foggy before I got glasses" and "I love my dog Pal". I guess you had to be there, but it was a major part of the experience.

More later.

gotta be quick, show in one hour. I think I might have the chicken pocks, but Im just that way (other than this flu and the red bumps on my stomach)
Have been in Raymond, Wa. Strange town, lots of oysters and flannel. Hood River, OR. Big white ceramic buffalo there. Hermiston, OR. Everything is written in both english and spanish. many stores that sell embroidered cowboy shirts. Now in Caldwell. smells like cows and families. Albertson college. 3 shows today. Staying in a house that was ultra modern in the sixties, and hasnt been altered at all since. Kind of sci fi eerie.

Love.

Leavin' on a jet

Leavin' on a jet plane

Okay, no. I'm leaving in a van with some MIMES! Ha! Sorry... it hasnt lost its sparkle for me yet. I wont be back until the 22nd or so, but maybe I'll be able to post from the tour, so check up.

I saw Chunyang at the Egyptian last night. I enjoyed it, but I also found it mildly dissatisfying. It helps that they keep the folk tale format, and the singing narrator was great. At one point, they show a shot of the live audience the narrator is facing, and theres this one guy in front, up out of his seat, doing a little dance. That was enough to make it well worth it for me. I also spent three bucks playing Ms. Pacman while a strange man in a neon windbreaker stood unusually close to me, grinning.

If you want me to send you a postcard from a small northwestern town, send Posted by Sonya at 11:15 AM | Comments (0)

A working model of

A working model of the universe

I thought I had lost my dictionary last night. Panic set in. The dictionary is one of the most important books I own.

It was in the corner. I had been pressing a flower in the O's, and somewhere around ostentatious, there was a word that meant "a working model of the universe"

Thats all.

Hey there. Your head's

Hey there. Your head's on fire

Leaving with the mimes in 2 days.

I have always had this secret wish to go into a coma for a while just to get some rest. To die for a short time. Friday, Saturday and Sunday were days I wish I could take back, or have the power to snatch my words out of the air before they touch anyone else's ears.

a haiku

I cant seem to say
the right thing ever these days
I guess Ill just leave

Whats your name? Who's

Whats your name? Who's your daddy?

I called my parents about 15 minutes before leaving work on friday of last week. My poppa is fighting in favor of GWB, and I like to get his perspective on things before I shoot my mouth off. Once we had each decided that the other was wrong about the budget, we started talking about generating energy.

I asked if he thought we could put watermill in the inside bends of rivers where the water moves faster and if he thought that 8 or 9 watermills could generate a comperable amount of power to that of a dam. He said no, and although building a few more would, and it would also spare the fish, the cost would be too great, and no one would do it. We also talked about wind farms. Apparently, the noise is creating serious problems for livestock farmers, and that there arent too many areas that arent agricultural that would be appropriate for those.
He thinks the soulution is to harness the tides somehow. Now I cant get it off my mind. Someone said that its already being done somewhere in the world, but I havent been able to find anything on it yet. If you have a tip, let me know.

My dad, he's a fiesty guy.

People with your umbrellas! What

People with your umbrellas! What are you doing! Put them away! It is not raining!

Why arent there ever rainbows here? I'm getting a little annoyed.

I was in twice sold tales last night. While trying to browse the aisles, a gaggle of boys stood at the end of a shelf, obstructing my course. I rather uncomfortably pushed my way through them. One of them had been saying rather loudly, "yeh, this here's a cool city, capitol hill. aint nothing like peaceful valley. there aint shit in peaceful valley". As I passed, he shouted "WELL HELLO!" in my ear and kind of winked a wink that somehow involved his teeth. "hi", I timidly replied. I couldnt help laughing to myself for no particular reason.

No, the particular reason is that I think nearly everything is amusing.

I also took all the CD's I dont listen to anymore to be sold yesterday. Out of 13, I could only sell 2. I left the rest of them on a newspaper stand to hopefully be enjoyed by a passerby. Funny enough, I had picked up 3 that were left in the pile in just this way well over a year ago. The cycle continues...

Groundhogs Day! theres a

Groundhogs Day! theres a song about this, but I cant remember it

Sushi again last night. Which reminds me. When Alisha and I went out on Tuesday, we saw a high speed chase! Crime! Excitement! We were on 45th when we saw it, and it turned into tim's neighborhood. The best part was that it was an old brown van with no windows in the back, and a little motif painted on the side. No other vehicle is really as suitable as this for a chase scene in a neighborhood full of narrow, windy streets.

Happy birthday Matty. Thank you for being willing to postpone your birthday a month because I was too much of a frantic loser to acknowledge it when it actually occured. So this year, you'll only be 24 for eleven months. Alabama!

I like groundhogs day. It's the least demanding holiday.

Wanna disco? Wanna see

Wanna disco? Wanna see me disco?

Sorry if my bitchiness was a downer yesterday. My momma sent me 2 emails today. She told me she's trying to become a faster typist, so she's stopped correcting her mistakes. She wants to become a transcriber, but she called it a transgressionist in her email. I thought it was pretty funny, but I don't think Ill say anything about it. He who is not a transgressionist, let him throw the first stone.

I stayed home from work this morning and came in at 1pm today. I didnt feel bad at all when I lost my voice, but I seem to be getting more and more sick every day.

Matt left for Alabama this morning at four. Montgomery, to be exact. Coincidentally, and not at all exciting, but we've been reading To Kill a Mockingbird, which takes place near montgomery alabama. Wow, that isnt interesting or relevant at all. Huh.

Made a comp tape last night, and now I like it so much I dont want to give it away.
